1. Who we are
ChildApart is a co-parenting coordination app. This page explains what personal data we handle and why. It applies alongside our Terms of Service.
2. Data we collect
- Account: name, email, role label, avatar, and authentication data.
- Children and co-parents you add, and links between them.
- Messages with your co-parent (permanent record), including cleaned language and moderation flags.
- Diary and calendar entries, tags, and reminders.
- Files you upload to the vault or attach to messages.
- Billing: handled by Stripe — we store subscription status and Stripe customer/price IDs, but never your full card number.
- Technical: device, browser, IP address, and basic usage logs.
3. Why we use it
- To run the app and let you and your co-parent coordinate.
- To process subscriptions, apply promo codes, and issue invoices via Stripe.
- To automatically clean abusive or aggressive language before messages are sent.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Who sees your data
Only you and the co-parent(s) you link can see the messages, diary, calendar, and vault items you share with them. Access is enforced with row-level security in our backend. We do not sell your data. We use trusted processors — including our cloud database/auth provider, Stripe (billing), and an AI provider used only to rephrase outgoing messages into calmer wording.
5. Message content and AI
When you compose a message, your draft may be sent to our AI provider for the sole purpose of suggesting a calmer version. We do not use your messages to train AI models. Sent messages are permanent so they can serve as a reliable record between co-parents.
6. Retention
We keep account, messaging, calendar, and vault data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records for legal, tax, or safety reasons.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us through the support link in your account to exercise these rights.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in access-controlled databases and storage buckets. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data with reasonable technical and organisational measures.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember drafts and preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email.
